  • homiey 3455 W North Ave Chicago United States (map)

Join homiey member Alvin Schexnider and The Graffiti Gym for this full day practicum in Social & Equitable Design.

Practicum In Social & Equitable Design

There are many social challenges in the world, some more complex than others. To have a chance at truly solving these problems, we must not only intend to co-create with those approximate to the problems, we must be intentional at starting with those who are approximate from the very beginning of the process. For this reason, we have taken an interdisciplinary approach to our approach to design - we include not only principles of human-centered design, but also principles of grassroots organizing and diversity-equity-inclusion.

In this FULL DAY workshop, you’ll learn:

  • The full seven phase approach of Social & Equitable Design

    • Humility + Awareness

    • Assemble + Understand

    • Clarify + Learn

    • Connect + Integrate

    • Generate + Ideate

    • Prototype + Build

    • Test & Refine

  • Methods, resources, and tools that you can use right away in your work / community

  • What healthy dynamics needed for team collaboration look like

Our workshops are biased towards action while also being reflective at times. Come as you are and yet be willing to try things out that feel new or different. This is a space to build your skills with the support of a practitioner.
