Join homiey member Alvin Schexnider and The Graffiti Gym for this 4-hour Crash Course in Social & Equitable Design.
There are many social challenges in the world, some more complex than others. To have a chance at truly solving these problems, we must not only intend to co-create with those approximate to the problems, we must be intentional at starting with those who are approximate from the very beginning of the process. For this reason, we have taken an interdisciplinary approach to our approach to design - we include not only principles of human-centered design, but also principles of grassroots organizing and diversity-equity-inclusion.
In this 4-hour Crash Course in Social & Equitable Design, we’ll collaboratively tackle a problem using our Social & Equitable Design process. You’ll leave with a core understanding of how to identify and map power and privilege dynamics as it relates to your institution and community, what team and community gaps you may have to fill with intention, how to do user interviews, conduct group ideation, and finally how to prototype and test your solutions.
Our workshops are biased towards action while also being reflective at times. Come as you are and yet be willing to try things out that feel new or different. This is a space to build your skills with the support of a practitioner.
